Child Support
This section will help you understand your Child Support arrangements for your children. There are two parts to Child Support:
a regular Child Support payment, usually monthly; and
the sharing of special or extraordinary expenses for children
These are both determined by the Child Support Guidelines. You need to know:
The parenting arrangements for each child
Your income, and your partner’s income ( including any adjustments)
Any special or extraordinary expenses for your children
Special or extraordinary expenses that are necessary and reasonable, are shared in proportion to each parent’s income.
Calculating Child Support: You can use the Child Support Guidelines found on the Federal government website or My Support Calculator (there is a free section)
Important Note: You cannot deny the other parent time with a child or other parental rights even if they stop paying child support. You can seek to enforce the payments by a court process.
